The cake analogy

'MADE a decision to..." - this took me a long, long time to grasp.

"MADE a decision to..." - this took me a long, long time to grasp. Not for lack of trying and I’d heard of the three frogs on the log but that didn’t really do it for me.  Somehow, somewhere I came to hear of the cake analogy - or maybe I thought of it myself? It doesn’t really matter.
Made a decision to - bake a cake.  Now how is that cake going to get made? Not by deciding to bake it. Deciding to does not a cake make. It takes action. I have to get a recipe, buy the ingredients, follow the recipe, put the cake mixture in the oven at the required temperature, wait… and hey presto - one cake. If I miss a step out it won’t rise, will be uneven, won’t bake - but if I follow the process, I will get the desired result.
Step Three is just like this for me – it needs the action necessary to see that decision to completion as in following the rest of the Steps through to arriving at Step Twelve, 'Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps…'.

As easy as baking a cake! They said it was a simple programme. I got in the way.
