Welcome to the Literature Sub-Committee section of the members’ website
Why Literature?
Since the publication of the Big Book, literature has been crucial in carrying AA’s message of recovery. Our books and leaflets are vital tools in our twelfth step work.
Our Structure Handbook reminds us that the General Service Board (GSB) is responsible for:
The printing and publishing of Conference approved AA books and pamphlets, and their distribution in Great Britain and English-speaking AA groups throughout Europe, the Continental European Region.
The GSB does this through the Literature Sub-Committee (LSC). The LSC ensures that our literature remains up to date and available for AA members to use in their own recovery, and to carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic.
Under the guidance of the General Service Conference (GSC), the LSC is responsible for drafting new literature, which is sent back to the GSC for approval. If approved, it will then become ‘conference approved literature’, and published.
The LSC regularly collaborates with other service disciplines by offering help with drafting, reviewing and updating literature.
