October 2026 – Share Editorial
Dear Reader
Discovering in early AA meetings that ALCOHOLISM IS AN ILLNESS helped me to let go of any notion that I could find a way to control my drinking. Steps One to Nine gave me everything I needed to stop drinking, stay sober, and put my life on a course to freedom and contentment. Maintaining this began at Step Ten which I try to pay attention to throughout the day. I’ve learnt that dealing with my wrongs or harms immediately is part of my insurance policy against taking a drink. I was also taught to notice the things I’ve done well: a kindness, a helping hand, showing someone I’m thinking of them. This Step is about credits as well as debits and learning to do this has improved my self-worth. I used to hate myself for my drunken behaviour, now, I can remember I was ill. I trust that continuing to follow the Programme will help me stay in remission.
Rather than saying anything about Tradition Ten here, I’d like to mention a few other things. You’ll see highlighted in this issue that Share will be priced at £2.20 from 1st January 2027. The new price will only affect orders placed from the new year onwards. All existing subscriptions and any new ones placed in 2026 will be honoured for their duration at the old price. I know that price increases are unwelcome, however, to remain self-supporting it is necessary. Personally, compared to the price of a bottle, Share has given me infinitely more benefit for a much lower price! I hope you will agree and continue your support.
This month we’ve received another great crop of Step and Tradition articles, thank you so much! Some prison articles (which could not be squeezed into last month’s themed edition) and numerous general articles are waiting in the wings for printing—stand by for future issues. Naturally, we still want more of course, so please keep writing to Share!
