Share June 2025

Dear Reader

I will always be grateful for our amazing spiritual Programme of Recovery. By the time I was working on my Step Six, I really was willing to try and let go of those behaviours which no longer served me well. I had started to understand that trusting my Higher Power and being aware of my part in challenging situations would be a life-long commitment. June is very special to me as it is when I attended my first AA meeting, put down the drink and embraced the Programme – one day at a time I recommit to being ready for today’s defects to be removed. My spiritual growth and emotional sobriety continue to be dependent on my actions on a daily basis. I am so grateful that my Higher Power removed the craving for alcohol when I totally accepted I was an alcoholic who had been given a solution. It’s a daily reprieve in a challenging world which I now see as full of adventure rather than horror.

Tradition Six is so vital in keeping us focussed on our primary purpose – the suggestion of only passing the pot round for Tradition Seven still allows us to have a collection pot for special occasions such as Gratitude Week – we just don’t pass that around the Room.

So, with a heart full of gratitude, Happy 90th Birthday to the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. Yes, on the 10th of June 2025, we celebrate the coming together of Bill W. and Dr. Bob and the founding of what is such an amazing Fellowship. This special edition of Share celebrates with the many expressions of Gratitude which have been sent in by our Fellows. Thank you for taking the time to share these with us all.

We continue to look forward to your articles – particularly on specific Steps, Traditions or Concepts. We only received one article on Step Six for this month’s edition and none on the Tradition or Concept. We’d love to hear more about your experience, strength and hope around these but do remember we have a two-month lead time.

I’ll always be grateful for my life today.
