It seems apt as I write this considering this months theme, that this week I have had one of those moments where I felt I was going to burst with gratitude. One of those occasions where I could really see the changes in me. I didn’t have any concept of being grateful for something when I first arrived in AA and I heard older members talk about ‘life beyond your wildest dreams’ - I honestly thought that sounded like a bit of an exaggeration at the time! But now a few years down the line, I truly do understand that feeling and can importantly show gratitude when it is due.
This week, someone referred to me as ‘credible’ and I was relied and trusted upon to complete a job. This is never how I was known a few years ago, I was the one who was always up for saying yes and agreeing to things, but did I follow it though? Heck no! Did I turn up on time for things? Not a chance! Thanks to AA and the people within the Fellowship, I’m a very different person now compared to the one who came through those doors.
I believe as long as I stay grateful, keep going to meetings, don’t ever take this for granted and work my Programme I have a chance.
