Roundabout June 2026

Editorial

It’s because 10 June 1935 was Dr Bob’s last drink that this date is considered to be the day our Fellowship was formally founded. And so June is known as Gratitude Month.

When I first got sober I woke up every morning grateful: grateful I wasn’t hungover, grateful I could remember with clarity the events of the previous evening, especially grateful I didn’t have to apologise to others for things I’d said or done. The worst times were those when I had no recollection at all, and only found out later what I’d said or done.

Thanks to this Fellowship, one day at a time, those days are past. But gratitude is a fragile plant and in my experience it needs to be watered every day or it will just shrivel up in the irritations of daily life. I have a list of things I am truly grateful for, and it’s a good way to start the day, thinking of them.

Welcome to our Gratitude issue of Roundabout, and thank you for being a part of this meeting in print.
