Something a bit different this month as our theme is Conference, and we share articles from those who have attended it.
We hear the word ‘service’ from the moment we walk through the doors of AA, but perhaps for you (like me) what actually goes on at Conference, down in York, is a bit of a mystery. I have to admit I always think of Conference as something for others to do, not me. But experience has been that the closer I am to the concept of service the better I feel in my sobriety. I see that the structure of AA is unlike any other, in that it’s upside-down in its decisionmaking processes, and as always I feel such gratitude to those early members of our Fellowship who had the courage and inspiration to do things differently. Conference is not ‘the top’ of AA but the listening ear that enacts the wishes of the individual meetings we attend day after day.
I hope you enjoy this issue of Roundabout. Your contributions are always so welcome and help to spread the message of AA. See you next month.
