Getting started in the YP role

For YPLO’s new in post, this is a checklist of jobs to get started:

Getting set up

Notify GSO that you are new in post
Apply for your AA mail address here and notify your region or intergroup of the email address once have it
Email the Young People’s sub committee at [email protected]g to be added to the YP WhatsApp group
Find out if you have a regional YPLO or if you are RYPLO, find out if you have YPLOs at intergroups

Suggestions for Next Steps

Find other Young People in your area to do service
Announce yourself in meetings that you attend
Ask other disciplines at intergroup to collaborate – eg. Health, PI, School Officer (if there is one)
Ask to attend any events other disciplines are doing to observe
Turn up regularly to intergroup/region and give a report
Contact universities/schools/YP organisations
Talk to TLO about a YP step list
Contact convention organisers nearby and ask to attend and have a table
Attend drop-in meetings held by the sub committee
Order Young People’s PI materials (posters) from [email protected]
Get a literature budget from your intergroup to order literature.
