All ECLOs are encouraged to register for an official AA email address. This can be done by completing the online registration form. Using an official AA email address will provide officers with access to the Confidential Directory, the File Store, edit level access to the relevant service microsite and other resources, such as the AA Service News.
ECLOs are encouraged to share the results of their work with GSO, other members and service bodies.
Members can provide information for the Meeting Finder, request updates to service posts on the Confidential Directory, and request access to IT services here.
Guiding Principles for Electronic Communication:
- Accessibility: Ensure all members have access to AA resources, regardless of their access to technology.
- First Impressions: When using email, remember that it may be the recipient’s first interaction with AA. It is important to maintain professionalism and courtesy.
- Confidentiality: It is recommended that service officers use AA service email addresses for external communication to help protect their anonymity and give a professional appearance. It is important to be mindful that emails can be forwarded.
- Anonymity: Careful consideration ought to be given to Tradition 12. Refer to the Hints and Suggestions on Internet Safety card available from the General Service Office (GSO) for guidance on online safety.
- Integrity: Encourage the ethical and responsible use of electronic communication, always upholding AA Traditions and principles.
