Giving Online a Second Try
“Online meetings are not going to be for everyone, but they certainly are a new place for me to go.”
I used to try to go to online meetings during lockdown but for some reason I just couldn’t take to them. I found the atmosphere didn’t suit me and the mood of the nation seemed a bit desperate; my anxiety used to increase instead of decrease when I logged on.
Now, a few years down the line, with the addition of super-fast fibre into my house, coupled with a new laptop, I have again started to visit some online meetings. It seems so different – I feel the meetings now have a different atmosphere. The feeling around the collective international crisis being long gone I’m able to relax and feel part of the online community.
I particularly like the women’s 24/7 meetings and have enjoyed the international one where they start a new topic every hour on the hour. It’s a great way to connect quickly to the Fellowship. I can be in the meeting without getting ready to go out and driving for miles on end to a live meeting. I can even sit in my bed while I am in the meeting and have a nice cup of tea the way I like it. I can also log on at 3 am if I want to. I’ve been impressed with the support and listened to some very good shares.
My heart will always live in my home group where I am in service though.
Online meetings are not going to be for everyone, but they certainly
are a new place for me to go.
