Explanation of ‘Open’ and ‘Closed’ Meetings (the AA definitions);
“The ‘Closed’ Meeting is intended for alcoholics and for those with an alcohol problem who have a desire to stop drinking.”
“The ‘Open’ Meeting is intended for alcoholics and non-alcoholics e.g. family, friends and anyone interested in AA”.
(If a non-alcoholic wishes to attend a ‘Closed’ meeting they can ask for it to be changed to an ‘Open’ meeting subject to the group conscience on the day i.e. subject to its own conscience, the group can decide to make a meeting ‘Open’ if it wishes to, in which case the non-alcoholic can stay).
GSRs please email the ECLO promptly to change or add meeting details on this Intergroup website.
GSRs are still required to complete the Pink Form (now officially known as the “Group Information – Registration and Update Meeting Form”), for GSO to put their meeting details onto the national AA website.
