Intergroup Officers

Executive Committee

The chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary form CWIG’s executive and are collectively responsible for setting meeting agendas and for addressing any issues as and when they occur. The executive seeks to be transparent and is accountable to the members of CWIG.

Members of the executive committee should have at least two years continuous sobriety and are expected to serve for a minimum of two and a maximum of three years.

The Chair holds the “big picture” vision for our local Fellowship. They ensure the Intergroup remains a healthy, effective resource and lead our meetings with a focus on our Traditions and the best interests of AA in Coventry & Warwickshire.

The Vice Chair provides essential support to the Chair and the wider committee. By standing ready to deputise and assist with leadership tasks, they ensure the continuity and stability of our local service efforts.

The Secretary serves as the “memory” of the Intergroup. By maintaining accurate records and ensuring clear communication between groups, they help our local Fellowship stay united, informed, and transparent.

The Treasurer oversees the spiritual aim of our local funds. They ensure we remain accountable and prudent, managing our resources so that we can effectively support the 12th-step work of the Intergroup and the wider Fellowship.

Other Officer roles

Generally, other officers should have at least two years continuous sobriety, be known to CWIG and be prepared to serve for a period of two years. However, CWIG may, from time to time, vary these requirements.

The PILO acts as a bridge to the community, ensuring that AA is visible and accessible to anyone in Coventry & Warwickshire seeking help. They coordinate outreach to ensure our message is clear, consistent, and widely available.

The TLO oversees the vital “first point of contact.” They manage and support the team of responders who answer the helpline, ensuring that when a suffering alcoholic reaches out, a voice of hope is there to answer.

The HLO focuses on bringing the message to those in medical care. They build relationships with local health bodies and hospitals, coordinating rotas so that AA is available to patients when they need it most.

The PLO facilitates 12th-step work behind the walls. By coordinating with local prisons, they ensure that incarcerated alcoholics have access to meetings and the opportunity to find a new way of life before and after release.

The PrLO works closely with probation and offender services. They help navigate the transition into the Fellowship for those in the justice system, ensuring initiatives like the “chit system” are supported and effective.

The YPLO ensures that AA remains relevant and welcoming to the next generation. They focus on making our Fellowship attractive to young people, showing them that a full and happy life in recovery is possible at any age.

The ASLO builds connections with the local veteran and active-duty community. They ensure that those who have served in the armed forces are aware of AA as a supportive resource for their recovery.

The Employment Liaison carries the message into the professional world. They engage with employers, unions, and organizations to help them understand how AA can support employees, offering a path of recovery within the workplace.

The ECLO manages our “digital front door.” They maintain our microsite and online presence, ensuring that meeting information is accurate and that the hand of AA is always reachable through the web.

The Regional Rep acts as the voice of Coventry & Warwickshire at the Regional level. They ensure our local groups are represented in wider Fellowship decisions and bring back valuable insights to keep our Intergroup connected.

First Responders-chat and e-mail

The national chat and e-mail service is looking for new members to join. A minimum of two years continuous sobriety is required and full training will be provided

Service is a fundamental part of the AA program. While some roles may currently be filled, we always welcome interest from those wishing to learn more about how they can help.
