The Wales and Borders Region of Alcoholics Anonymous provides a shared forum for its groups and members. The region covers seven Intergroups in total. Five of these are located within Wales, while two also include parts of the English counties of Shropshire and Herefordshire. This structure facilitates the coordination of AA activities and the sharing of information across the area.
The service work of the Wales and Borders Region is managed through its regional assemblies. These meetings are held to conduct the business of the region and allow for communication between groups and the wider service structure. Regional assemblies are usually held on the first Sunday of every third month, in March, June, September, and December. These meetings are held online with the exception of the AGM, which is held in a hybrid format. A link for online access can be found on our website.
The function of the regional assembly is to allow for the sharing of experience and the discussion of matters that affect AA within the Wales and Borders area. Representatives from various Intergroups attend these meetings to report on local activities and to vote on regional service matters. The purpose of this Region is to support the Intergroups and groups and to help ensure that the message of recovery is available to those who need it in the Wales and Borders region.
This service work, along with the activities of the local Intergroups and groups, helps to maintain a network of support for alcoholics seeking help. The regional website serves as a central point of information for members and the public, providing details on our meetings and events in the area.
Assembly meetings are subject to change, and it is best to confirm details before traveling. They start at 10:30 am. For the latest information about our meetings and events, please refer to the links provided. The work of the Wales and Borders Region is conducted in a spirit of service, focusing on the practical needs of the AA fellowship to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
