Teenagers and children are seriously affected by alcohol dependency or alcoholism within the family.

It is estimated that 920,000 children in Great Britain are living in a home where one or both parents misuse alcohol.

If you’re an educational professional, AA can organise free talks in schools.

Public Information Officers

Our Public Information Officers support professionals and the public sector, including schools.

They can:

• Deliver presentations at seminars, conferences or in-house for your teachers and staff.
• Attend exhibitions, organise public meetings or attendance at AA open meetings, where you can experience how AA works.

Young People and AA

If you’re concerned about a teenager’s or young person’s problem drinking, AA can help.

Direct them to our helpline: 0800 917 7650 or to call the number while the student is with you and hand them the phone.

The helpline is manned by AA members with at least one year of sobriety who will offer to arrange for a member to contact them to take them to a local meeting.
