Health Sub Committee Role Requirements
Details of the requirements & responsibilities wanted for a role in the Health service discipline.
• To implement health initiatives as directed by the General Service Board on the recommendation of Conference maintaining a working relationship between the General Service Board and the Health Subcommittee
• To provide support to Regional and Intergroup Health Liaison Officers by providing information, advice and resources
• To build and maintain supportive relationships with allocated Regions
• To create and encourage open communication channels with Regional and Intergroup Health Liaison Officers, including virtual and live meetings and seminars if appropriate.
• To carry the message and increase awareness of Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12 Step programme to all health-related environments as appropriate
• To have a working knowledge of the AA structure and to adhere to the Traditions, Concepts and guidance contained in the AA Service and Structure Handbooks
• To work within the Terms of Reference for the Health Sub Committee (These are available on the Health Discipline area of the AA website)
• To be mindful of all the Traditions, particularly Traditions Six, Ten, Eleven and Twelve when arranging and /or attending all Conferences events
• To liaise with GSO when ordering literature and equipment for Conferences and events
• The Health Sub Committee will meet four times each year in York and / or on an approved virtual platform. If unable to attend apologies should be submitted in advance to the Trustee
• To ensure that all projects and meetings meet the Safeguarding guidelines as recommended by Conference
• An annual review of the Health Sub Committee Roles & Responsibilities will be presented to the GSB for approval if any amendments have been proposed.
