EDITORIAL DECEMBER 2019

Audio Version

Dear Reader

We have had a great response to our advert for Hints and Tips on staying sober over the festive period. The Share Team hope this shared experience is helpful in your sober journey. When many of us first came into the Fellowship a common question many of us asked was, "How am I going to get through Christmas without a drink." Most of us probably got the same answer from sober members, "Let's work on keeping sober just for today, Christmas is a long way away."

But the Christmas season has now arrived. We know there will be a lot of it about. But there will also be a lot of AA about including meetings on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day and all through December. As members of AA we can tap in to all this support plus we have phone numbers of members we can call to support us. There is also the AA helpline, and if you go on to the AA Website-https://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/ you can click on the 'Chat Request Box' and have an'Online Chat' with a sober member of the Fellowship. Or you can Email into help@aamail.org and the help team there can give you some great support.

So, despite what our Alki head may tell us, we are not alone anymore. We have people near us in the Fellowship who understand us and who have an abundance of Experience, Strength and Hope to pass on to each and every one of us.

We also know that one of the best things we can do for ourselves is to help someone else. Shake the hand of a newcomer, help them to get a cup of tea and find a seat around the meeting table. It works if we work it.
