Share brings hope

IN those early desperate days of fragile sobriety, I clung to anything which helped me get by in between meetings. The serenity prayer was always on my lips and a copy of SHARE was within arm’s reach. The articles in SHARE spoke the same language as me - they seemed to understand my need to get through just one more day without a drink. I read my copy over and over making sure I hadn’t missed a single hint on how to stay sober. At that time, I still couldn’t fully understand the instructions in the Big Book, so I held on to the stories and the experiences which were there and in my monthly magazine. I had copies at home in my handbag and in my car.

Nowadays l have a Programme, a sponsor and a God of my own understanding to rely on but I remember how much SHARE helped me in those alone times and you will still find a copy today in my suitcase, now I am sober enough to travel. If you are looking for someone who has the same problems and is willing to write down their experience, strength and hope to carry the message of recovery to another alcoholic, then I suggest that SHARE magazine is the best value for money I ever got - some might say what I found was priceless.
