When you received this month’s issue of Roundabout what did you do first? Did you flip to our longest running feature That Was The Week That Was found towards the back of the magazine or perhaps you flicked just past the centre pages to see who had been interviewed this month? Maybe you're enjoying the new cartoons which are being included in the magazine now and cast your eye over all of them before settling on an article to read.

 

Some people turn to the centre pages (the Service and Diary pages) straight away to check that their group details have been included. Telephone manners, online responders and Chat Now volunteers all use pages i and ii to keep their Where To Finds up to date, determined that when communicating with the still-suffering alcoholic they have the correct information to hand so that newcomers get through the door into our wonderful Fellowship. Some people turn straight to page iii, the Conventions and Gatherings page eager to see where upcoming events are being held across Scotland and indeed across Europe.

It would be interesting to know whether page iv of these diary pages is the first port of call for many people. On this page are listed the dates, times and addresses of all the intergroup and regional service meetings held throughout Scotland and in this month of November many will be holding their Annual General Meetings.

If you want to find out how you can do service beyond group level why not go along? If you are someone who speaks regularly of your gratitude to the Fellowship and want to show this through action rather than just words why not attend? Your appearance and willingness to do service will ensure not only that Alcoholics Anonymous will be there for those who come after us; it will enhance your personal recovery in ways which words can hardly describe. Why not find out for yourself?!
