A little share
“By any means” - one of the profound things my first sponsor told me. I was six months’ sober after a spell in rehab and I had a place in his car as he drove to do a share in one of many places he was asked to go. He was nervous - but I knew he ‘had this’.
It was the start of a new life for me, that was also at times an exciting adventure into the unknown. But, unlike my life before recovery, which was isolating and saw me push people away - I wasn’t on my own and I was thinking forward instead of living in a spiritual malady - believing and experiencing the evidence all round me that there IS a better life.
I have now moved back across the country to my homeland. I live in the countryside and don’t own a car any more. So I spend about four hours, three times a week catching the buses I need to reach my meetings. Sometimes I miss the last one and walk miles across the fields home. But today I am sober, by any means.
