Introduction

The aim of our Public Information service discipline is to improve communications with professionals and the public, through cooperating with various external organisations in providing a free service to help with the growing problem of alcoholism.

How can AA achieve this?

  •  Establish a local PI Committee
  •  Invite professionals to attend our "Open" meetings. There are over 4,000 meetings in Great Britain
  •  Provide AA speakers to attend outside groups, schools, universities, and various workplaces
  •  Co-operate in local alcohol initiatives
  •  Co-operate with Professionals and offer our help in dealing with the 'still suffering alcoholic'
  •  Provide 'display units' & literature at any event or location
  •  Establish positive relationships with newspapers, radio and television by offering our help to those who still suffer
  •  Where in operation invite Probation services and Courts to use our "Proof of Attendance" at meetings service to further their help to the alcoholic

In putting the above into practice, recommended AA guidance can be found through the following items in the PI folder of the Document Library:-

Also please refer to 'AA and the Media' & 'PI Related Literature' sections of this site for further guidance.
