Service opportunities in WRIG
Doing service is a great way of carrying the message to the suffering alcoholic and protecting your own sobriety. There are service opportunities at Intergroup level which will help you and also give you an interesting insight into how AA works above the level of individual meetings. Vacancies which exist now or which will come up in the next few months include treasurer, probation liaison, literature rep, armed forces liaison, regional rep, mini-convention convenor, and electronic communications liaison. If you think you could help with any of these roles, please contact your GSR. You would be supported and sponsored into any role.
Prison Service
There are four prisons in the WRIG area - Leeds HMP (Armley), New Hall HMP (near Wakefield), Wakefield HMP & Wealstun HMP (near Wetherby).
The WRIG Prison Service is a wonderful, small, dedicated and committed team providing inmates with regular AA meetings, which are rewarding and have a real impact.

Guiding Principles
What is West Riding Intergroup?
An Intergroup consists of an unspecified number of groups who have decided to affiliate. Its
geographical boundaries are determined by local needs and experience as agreed by the
constituent groups. Something like twenty five has been suggested as a good workable
number. Since its establishment, both the geographical area of WRIG and the number of
member groups has varied considerably and may well do so in the future.
