The Lady and the plant continued

A MONTH has passed since I wrote an article, 'The Lady And The Plant', for SHARE.

A MONTH has passed since I wrote an article, ‘The Lady And The Plant’, for SHARE - my story of an amazing experience I had with God.  Having written it, it then took me a month to remember to send it!!   Always on Programme…not!   Last week, a good month after my experience with the lady and the plant, I got a phone call. It was the lady in question who just wanted to say hello and pass on her thanks for the literature. It had helped her a lot and given her hope. She was building up the courage to attend her first AlAnon meeting, her son was doing fine and due out of rehab next week.  It felt good to know I had been of help and service.

Nearly three months ago I was asked to share at a live lunchtime meeting in Leamington spa which is about an hour from my home.   I had been to this meeting once before many years ago but not my normal patch by a long way. I arrived in plenty of time and the large hall was filling rapidly. In the last few minutes before the meeting was about to start, two guys came in and the one who approached the secretary sat next to me at the front of the church.  "I've got a newcomer with me, first meeting, he's just come out of rehab today and his name’s …"  My heart jumped. Could it be the same person? the son of the lady who I met in my garden. I went over to him and introduced myself, then asked if his mum had been to a garden recently and talked to anyone regarding AA. Sure enough, it was the same person.  I couldn't believe it; my head was spinning and I'm just about to share.  I asked if he minded if I mention it and he was happy.

I shared the full story; how I had met his mother, the plant, me blurting out the association with AA, the two-hour chat and now today, a month on, I am at a meeting an hour away from home, a meeting I never normally would attend and in walks the guy I've been praying for every day ever since. He's at his first meeting and I was there to witness and be a part of it.  I got quite emotional as did a few others in the room. My faith in my God has reached a new level I didn't know was possible.  It was a beautiful meeting full of positive messages and at the end he and I exchanged numbers.  God, I love how this all works!!
