An Experience of Step 11
An Experience of Step 11
Even when I did the Steps a second time I came to realise that I was hardly practicing Step Eleven at all. The only way I would it was when I was reading the Step Three and Five prayer as part of my daily early morning routine.
Then a Step meeting was set up here in Bedford. It was seen in a very nice way where we could start off with the usual reading; then about 15 minutes of meditation, candles to be lit and accompanied by soft music and noises of nature. After that someone would share their experience of Step Eleven and others would then share back in the usual way. This allowed us then to have that extended time of meditation in a nice atmosphere with others and also talk of our experiences of meditation and our concept of God or a Higher Power. This has now allowed me more sincerely to hand over my day to God, so practicing Step Eleven. So now I feel my sobriety is more solid and the quality of my life is getting better.
