Making Amends To Me

The willingness to make amends and acceptance of our part in things, make it possible to clear the air. What wonderful gifts! If I don’t understand how to do this in any situation, I will ask for the words.

Yet again today, my HP gave me the gift of insight. I never thought of myself as good enough, so I played roles rather than lived. As I progressed through the 12 Steps, I came to the decision that for me, amends have to be lived as well as spoken. Today, I realised I had missed one out - to myself - so here goes....

Sorry I was so harsh with you.
Sorry I expected so much from you.
Sorry that I didn’t realise you were ill and how ill you were.
I can’t change the past, but I can value you.
I can’t undo the harm but I can accept it and my part in it.
I am worthy, even as imperfect as I am.
I can try to listen to what you are telling me and not interrupt.
I can accept you as the individual, beautiful creation you are, just as my HP can.
I can try to keep you safe and loved.
I can try to give you the hugs you so desperately sought.
