Stort & Roding Intergroup

An Intergroup is a local AA service office, established and supported by AA groups and members, to help carry the AA message within a specific geographic area; it is a partnership of AA groups just as an AA group is a partnership of individuals.

Usually the Intergroup maintains a telephone help-line available to the public; to anyone in the community who may have a problem with alcohol.  The Intergroup service office relies on AA group members to perform Twelfth-Step service.

Service at an Intergroup office usually consists of answering the Intergroup's phones, arranging AA member Twelfth-Step contacts for newcomers, helping callers to get to meetings and/or serving on Public Information or on Hospital and Institutions Committees.  Intergroups usually publish local AA meeting lists and newsletters.

Stort & Roding AA Intergroup has over twenty groups and more than two dozen weekly meetings in and around the East  Hertfordshire and West Essex area in support of our primary purpose which is; "To stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety".

Each AA group in the Stort & Roding area has chosen a member, called a Group Service Representative, or GSR, to attend the quarterly Stort & Roding Intergroup meetings. If you have any questions about the GSR role or you have a question that you would like raised at intergroup meeting talk to your local meeting GSR.
