AA's Christmas TV Message Press Release -- December 2nd 2003
This Christmas Alcoholics Anonymous will use television to raise awareness of the solution it offers for problem drinkers. Employing the line 'if alcohol is costing you more than money....', the campaign will kick off on Boxing Day and run through to January 17th, a time of the year that typically sees many problem drinkers attempting to resolve the issue. The advertising will run nationally via Sky's 33 channel package, supported by showings with regional broadcasters Central, STV, Westcountry and Tyne-Tees. AA's campaign comes in the wake of the publication in September of the Government?s Interim Report on its Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy and this year's implementation of the Scottish Executive's new alcohol strategy that has led to a very significant increase in referrals to Alcoholics Anonymous by Health services. Alcoholics Anonymous was established in the 1930's in America and arrived in Britain 55 years ago. There are more than 3,500 AA meetings every week in England, Scotland and Wales. - ENDS - For further information please contact: Ann N., General Service Office 01904 644026 John H., Southern Service Office 0207 833 0022 Charlie S., Northern Service Office 0141 226 2214 of Alcoholics Anonymous Please click here.
