Introduction to Health

I would like to make a pledge to the whole medical fraternity that A.A. will always stand ready to cooperate, that A.A. will never trespass upon medicine, that our members who feel the call will increasingly help in those great enterprises of education, rehabilitation and research which are now going forward with such promise - Bill W. Presentation to the New York City Medical Society on Alcoholism

Welcome to the Health area of the website. These pages are intended to assist members who are interested in working in or who are already working in health liaison to carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic through co-operation with professional healthcare workers within the NHS, local authorities, and private sector care providers.

In this section of the website there are suggestions for activity and resources which can be used or adapted for this work that should be read in conjunction with Chapter Six (AA and Healthcare in the Community) of the AA Service Handbook.

As new material becomes available such as minutes of the annual meeting of regional liaison officers, new initiatives, and new presentations they will be added either to these pages or to the Health section of the File Store.

To find out more please go to the Health Resources tab of the Health section where you will find content covering:

  • Suggestions for new Regional or Intergroup HLOs
  • Ideas for Health Activity
  • Experience of starting as an HLO
  • Health Materials
  • Talks and Presentations
  • Description of and templates for Open Meeting Workshops
  • File Store

Whenever we are involved in external presentations a clear understanding of the all the Traditions is important, particularly 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12.

We welcome suggestions on how to improve these pages, or ideas for additional material. Please contact us at trustee.midlandsregion@gsogb.org.uk
